Facebook passwords and logins stolen by apps from Google Play

Cybercriminals are already operating on many fronts and will not miss mobile device owners either., especially those, which use Google Android OS. ESET reported, that Android is under great threat.

This time “problems for users” were hidden in the games Cowboy Adventure and Jump Chess. Both contained a Trojan, the purpose of which was to obtain login information for an account on the Facebook website. Luckily, there were no big losses.

Number of users caught in the trap, turned out to be relatively small, thanks to many people's comments, who saw the problem and signaled the threat. However, it was not easy to determine the operating principle of the Trojan.

After launching the application, it made a request for fake Facebook login windows. If the victim allowed himself to be deceived and provided his information, those were immediately sent directly to the server, controlled by attackers.

Games infected with malware have been removed from the store. The presented case confirms, that reading comments from other users can sometimes be very useful.
