Western Digital introduces new media PC SN720 and PC SN520

Models PC SN720 and PC SN520 is primarily designed for business applications. Media presented at the Mobile World Congress and Embedded World.

Company Western Digital expanded the range of storage media SSD NVMe – efficient PC SN720 and compact PC SN520 models. The new series were intended not only for laptops, but also to devices in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT) and embedded systems.

Carriers use memory Western Digital 3D TLC NAND, which was established in cooperation with the firm Toshiba (most likely it is a 64-layered memory BiCS3). A common feature is also the use of the PCI-Express interface and the NVM Express protocol.

PC SN720 series includes carriers M.2 2280 volume 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB - all use the PCI-Express interface 3.0 x4, but the exact specification has not yet been revealed. The stated read/write speeds are respectively 3400/2800 MB / s, and the number of IOPS comes to 500 000/400 000 IOPS.

PC SN520 model slightly weaker, they read / write speeds are respectively 1700/1400 MB / s, and the number of input-output operations to 270 000/280 000 IOPS. These media come in three capacitive versions: 128 GB, 256 GB i 512 GB M.2 format 2230, M.2 2242 and 2280 (with PCI-Express interface 3.0 x2).

Carriers Western Digital PC SN720 and PC SN520 presented at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Booth # 3K33 in hall Hall, 3 в FIRA Gran Via Exhibition Center). Later they can also be seen at the Embedded World exhibition in Nuremberg (stand #32 SQM в зале 3А-429 в Exhibition Centre).
