Oracle and the new FS1 storage system, based entirely on flash technology
Oracle Company, has enriched its data storage offer, releasing the Oracle FS1 Flash Storage System model to the market. This system is completely based on flash technology, resulting in superior performance, capacity scalability and clear resource provisioning, able to function successfully in enterprise SAN environments, and also in the cloud.
New solutions designed to handle parallel mixed OLTP workloads and create fast backups, both in private and public clouds, as in SAN environments. The system provides up to 64 domains, flash memory based, that provide secure data isolation in the cloud with multi-tenant support, as well as priority I/O service.
The system can be expanded to almost 1 PB uncompressed capacity using flash technology, its first launch lasts less than 30 min. The advantages of this solution include high performance and low latency. How insignificant? Conducted tests of simultaneous loads for large and small blocks showed less latency, than one millisecond. What's worth mentioning, this is even in 8 times the number of I/O operations per second and 9,7 times faster recording speed, compared to EMC XtremIO.

Oracle All Flash FS1 was designed with full support for Oracle databases and applications, and takes full advantage of Oracle Hybrid Columnar Compression technologies, the most advanced solution for data reduction. This is evidenced by the compression ratio 10:1, which provides almost twice the degree of data reduction, this is usually achieved using deduplication techniques.
It is also necessary to mention that, that this system is equipped with specialized applications, configured at the factory and optimized for shared use of the Oracle database and business application. These profiles help simplify and speed up storage allocation and application deployment.
