Mobile Intel Core H ninth-generation processors: from 4 to 8 nuclei at up to 5 GHz

Not so long ago it became known, that Intel is preparing a productive mobile CPU Core i9-9980HK. Now, Intel's documents were found records of all mobile processors Core H-series of the ninth generation, which may indicate the proximity of their official announcement.

Intel is preparing just six mobile Core ninth-generation H-Series, two chip families Core i5, Core i7 и Core i9. Looking at all, new items offer a greater number of nuclei and the higher clock frequency, than their predecessors of the eighth generation. Older news will be very similar to their desktop "brothers", but offer better energy efficiency due to lower operating frequency. Although, judging by the data presented, peak frequency will remain the same. The new chips will be built on the already familiar Skylake architecture and for their production will be used 14-nm process technology.

The flagship of the new processor family will be Core i9-9980HK. He will offer eight physical cores and sixteen processing threads, and the third level cache volume will make 16 MB. The maximum clock frequency of news (one core) make 5,0 GHz. The suffix «K» in the title refers to an unlocked multiplier, but how much will be able to overclock the chip in the laptop cramped conditions, hard to say.

Next comes the processor Core i9-9880, which also has 8 cores and 16 streams and 16 MB cache in the third level, but its maximum speed reaches 4,8 GHz, which, apparently, also fair to only one core. Here, the CPU multiplier is already blocked, and thus the acceleration is not provided.

In turn, the processors and Core i7-9850H Core i7-9750H offer six cores and threads, and 12 MB cache in the third level. Their maximum clock frequency is 4,6 and 4,5 GHz respectively. Finally, model Core i5-9400H and Core i5-9300H will have four cores and eight threads, cache volume will make 8 MB, and peak clock speeds achieved 4,3 and 4,1 GHz respectively.

Note, that Intel presented the table also indicates the theoretical performance figures. And despite similar characteristics at a glance, Mobile Core i9 have a much lower measure of performance, than their desktop "cousins". In the case of processors Core i5 and Core i7 seen more big difference. Yet energy consumption restrictions have a strong impact on the performance of processors.
