Local elections have not opened for more than 230 electoral districts
At the municipal elections taking place today in Ukraine, no elections were opened. 237 from almost 30 thousand polling stations, which means, that in several localities voting was impossible. The most difficult situation reigns in Mariupol on the shores of the Azov Sea.
On the impossibility of holding elections in Mariupol, Donetsk region, reported the Presidential Bloc of Petro Poroshenko. He blamed the Opposition Bloc of the Party of Regions for disrupting the voting.
Media reports, that people come to the polling stations, however they do not contain ballots, which were not accepted by the city election commission due to a printing error and lack of control over their costs. This situation concerns everyone 205 polling stations in Mariupol.
– Bulletins were printed by the company, which actually belongs to the SCM holding, owned (oligarch) Rinata Akhmetova, – reads the statement of the Poroshenko Bloc, who proposed holding elections in Mariupol together with the second round of elections for city governors, scheduled for 15 November.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported, that the elections will not take place either 30 okr. Krasnoarmeysk to the north-west of Donetsk. This is also due to errors in voting papers.. In several other localities, polling stations were not open, in particular, due to lack of ballot boxes.
Local elections in Ukraine are seen as a test of support for the policies of President Petro Poroshenko. They do not include territories, occupied by separatists in Donbass. As stated by the Ukrainian authorities, they can't hold a vote there, since these areas are not under the control of Kyiv; elections will be possible, when Russian troops leave Donbass, and voting can take place in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. Separatists from the so-called People's Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk claim, that they are ready for local government elections, but next year.
Approximately 140 parties. According to various surveys, President Poroshenko’s Solidarity party can count on first place, Fatherland of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, as well as Self-Help of the Mayor of Lviv. 4 ranks in polls, in particular, Opposition Bloc.
Voting is carried out on 8-2 hours, preliminary results expected tomorrow.
