What types of car insurance are available in Ukraine?

Car insurance – this is a service, upon registration of which the car owner pays a certain amount for insurance service annually. Company, who receives this money, undertakes to assume responsibility in the event of an insured event and to compensate for losses, suffered by the car owner or a third party.

Types of car insurance

The largest online insurance service in Ukraine – this is the GREEN TRAVEL™ company. This organization works 11 years. It is processed here 2000 of insurance per month, and the company has been providing auto insurance services since its appearance on the Ukrainian market (created in 2008 year).

Today, the following insurance policies are in demand among Ukrainian car owners:

  • OSAGO;
  • Green Card;
  • CASCO;
  • DCV.

This is the entire range of insurance services, available to motorists on the territory of Ukraine. At the same time, some are mandatory (OSAGO), their prices are set by the state. The cost of insurance services with other policies depends on the cost of the car, motorist behavior on the road (if in the past he was the culprit of an accident or received fines for violating traffic rules – the cost of the policy is more expensive), as well as from driving experience.

Mandatory OSAGO policy

Having this insurance is mandatory for any car owner. It is also called the auto civil liability policy, in other words, car driver . Under this contract, the company pays compensation to other participants in road accidents, if the client is responsible for the accident.

Who needs a green card??

In Russia, Moldova and Belarus and more 47 European countries have a "Green Card" system. It is identical to OSAGO, but focused on the international market. This insurance is mandatory, if the car owner plans to drive his car abroad. To issue green card in Lviv online for fifteen days is possible for approx 500 UAH.

What gives CASCO?

CASCO – type of insurance, which protects the customer's car. Protection extends to road accidents, natural disasters, damage and theft. In the event of an insured event, the company pays for the repair of the car or reimburses the cost according to the contract.

When there is a need to issue a DCV policy?

DCV – it's insurance just in case, if the insurance amount under OSAGO will not be enough to pay the loss. When concluding the contract, the policy has a payment threshold. If this value is exceeded, the car owner, who caused the accident, must refund the amount, which is lacking for out-of-pocket compensation.

If you issue a DCV, this money can be taken from the "stock", provided by the policy. Decision, to take or not to take DCV, remains with the car owner: for some, it is safer to have additional insurance just in case, for others, it is better not to overpay for another contract.
