990FX Extreme6 motherboard is based on the Fatal1ty 990FX Killer game model – in this case, the developers abandoned several solutions, dedicated to players. This design is compatible with AM3 + processors, and thanks to the use of an efficient power supply, it officially supports processors with TDP up to 220 VT (FX-9000). Four slots are allocated for RAM, which work with 2-channel DDR3 memory kits with up to 2450 MHz.
Expansion cards can be installed in three PCI-Express slots 2.0 x16 (electrically x16 / x16 / x4) and two PCI-Express 2.0 x1 – therefore, it is possible to connect up to three video cards in SLI or 3-way CrossFireX mode, but you need to connect additional power from the MOLEX plug. The disk is based on AMD 990FX and SB950 chipsets, which are responsible for the five SATA connectors 6 Gbps and one M.2 (2242 – 22110).
Also noteworthy is the PuritySound sound chip 2, which is based on the 8-channel Realtek ALC1150 codec.
